Salvatore T. Yacobozzi, 81, of Lorain, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Cleveland Clinic, following a short illness.
A life long resident of Lorain, Sal was born April 15, 1928, and graduated from Lorain High School in 1946.
He served in the United States Navy in the late 1940’s.
Sal was a self employed contractor and property manager for many years, retiring in the 1970’s.
Sal was faithful to his church and religion and directly involved in the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, and currently a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain. He was also a member of the Italian American Veterans Post 1 of Lorain, and the Amvets Post 22 of Vermilion.
Sal enjoyed boating, dancing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed children. He especially loved his music, song writing and recording as well as playing songs for his friends. Sal had many friends and was always there to help them in their time of need. A great Husband, Father and Friend.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Betty (nee Kuhn); a son, Ken of Plainfield, Illinois; a granddaughter, Jennifer Yacobozzi of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a brother, John of Vermilion on the Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ilario and Angeline (nee Misita) Iacobozzi; and an infant son, Keith.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Schmitz, pastor of St. Stephens Catholic Church, West Salem, Ohio, and Rev. Fr. Robert Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
