William Morano

August 10, 1930 — July 7, 2013

William "Bill" Morano, age 82, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
He was born on August 10, 1930 in Lorain, where he lived his entire life. He attended Lorain schools and then served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1950. Bill was employed by the City of Lorain, first by the Street Department, and then the Water Department, where he retired from in 1992. Previous to working for the city, he worked for Freuhoff Trailer Co., for 14 years, Tappen, and also drove taxi for Arrow Cab Co., for over 20 years. Bill was a long-time member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, where he volunteered a lot of his time to. His time spent volunteering was with the food pantry, clothes pantry, and mowing the grass at church. He was also an usher and communion server for services as well. Besides volunteering, he enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and listening to his police scanner.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley (nee Ferguson), his children; Michael, of TN, Jolene (Bob) Rogowski, of Homerville, Mark (Sue), of Lorain, Jon, of Lorain, and Pamela (Al) Tenorio, of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters; Elaine Rinker, of GA and Esther Eldeb, of MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Rose (nee Vacaron) Morano, and many brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm, at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, OH. Friends will also be received at the church, on Saturday, from 11:00 am until the time of services 12:00 pm. The Rev. Greg Sellers, Pastor, will officiate.
