Paul G. Christen, Sr., age 94, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria.
He was born on December 19, 1917 in Tyler County, WV, and had moved to Lorain in 1946. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Paul was employed at US Steel for 32 years, first, as a millwright, and then as a maintenance foreman, finally retiring in 1978. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, as well as the Black River Masonic Lodge #786, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 30. Paul enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
He is survived by a son, Wayne Christen, of Lorain, his sister, Patricia Carney, of New Martinsville, WV, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. His is also survived by his best buddy, "Scoopy."
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul G. Christen, Jr., his parents; Sheridan and Alice (nee Minor) Christen, and his 2 brothers; Robert Bernard Christen and Sheridan Burl Christen.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 25, from 5-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. His funeral service will be on Monday, at 10:00 am, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5046 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Jack Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., with military honors conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
