George M. Trebus

George M. Trebus, age 93, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013, after a brief illness.
He was born on December 6, 1919 in Holsopple, PA, and lived in Lorain for most of his life. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1944. George was a machine operator for Fruehauf Trailer Company and then worked for Lorain Car Releasing Co., where he retired from in 1985. He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society, and awarded Man of the Year in 1998. He was currently a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Slovak Catholic Sokols, the Slovak Club, the Polish Fisherman's Club, the PLAV, the PACC, UPC, and NBC Lodge.
George is survived by his brother, John Trebus, and a sister, Anne M. Roches, both of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph, Sr., and Anna S. (nee Mocak) Trebus, brother, Joseph, Jr., and a sister, Mary A Chuska.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 3 - 7 pm, at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where prayers will be held on Monday at 9:30 am. His funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am, at Nativity of the BVM, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Robert J. Glepko, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, where full military honors will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans.
